Tablescape Love!

....If I could design tablescapes all day, every day…I really think I would! I’m not certain where all of this stemmed from but I think my mom’s beautifully decorated tables set to perfection influenced my love for the details. I remember walking into our dining room as a young girl imagining up my own merrymakings one day.
Now let’s be honest, I think we would all agree that this room would need a MAJOR makeover today….can we say pink floral overload?! And those curtains….WOW! But back in the early 90’s, it was quite the elegant one. All I can say is "thanks Mom!"... for inspiring me and for sparking that flame inside that has now become a crazy passion of mine turned reality :)
Last week we had the honor of designing three Fall inspired tablescapes for Classic Party Rentals Phoenix showroom. As soon as we were presented with the opportunity, I knew right away what themes I wanted to convey for each one. I wanted them to be unique while at the same time harmonistic in the details. My favorite part in my designing is when vision kisses reality. Seeing my initial concept come to successful fruition after the hours of planning and hard work…it makes it all worth it and is a gentle reminder that I am doing what I am supposed to be doing. My skills, talents, and passions are aligned and all is well…
Table # 1: Rustic Vintage Inspired Thanksgiving Tablescape

I have a lot of rustic and vintage pieces in my own inventory so I wanted to infuse this table with a theme that is special to me. I also wanted it to inspire an outdoor thanksgiving celebration experience so I chose to ground the plates with rustic wood chargers and swag bistro lights above. Some of my favorite details from this table is my beloved vintage scale that supports the cream pumpkin and the chalkboard menu I designed using an inexpensive cutting board, chalkboard paint, and some patience writing up a mouthwatering feast plan. I could have gone with the typical orange and brown fall pallete but I wanted it to be different so I added the black and white striped runner down the middle (leaving a personal logo touch might I add :)). Instead of your classic centerpieces, I chose to use vintage tins to house natural greenery, a white vase from Savers with straw to add height (yup...your details do not have to be from the most expensive stores!), and my favorite….yellow billy balls to add a pop of color detail to keep it interesting. Lastly, my beloved apple place card settings! These chartreuse cuties were the essence of my own wedding décor 5+ years ago and added the perfect touch to this rustic outdoor setting. Glad they came in handy again!

Table #2: Halloween Sweets Table

This table was a lot of fun! I initially wanted to go with more of a subtle black and white inspired sweets table but as it evolved, I decided to incorporate more color into the palette to make it more appealing. I had a lot of the décor pieces from previous Halloweens which inspired the center accents the candy was built around. I just love my white ghost vase and the straw and sticks added nice height to the table. The pumpkins are faux and I actually painted a few of them white instead of buying new. The original orange color covered very well with a just a few quick coats so go ahead and save a few bucks the next time you pull out your orange décor you may be tired of :). The white and silver striped tins are actually from the Dollar Spot at Target and were a perfect container for the candy pieces. I picked up the orange soda bottles from Home Goods and the black birds from Hobby Lobby (40% off for all fall décor right now!). The acropathy jars are awesome for many things but when it came to this sweets table, I loaded them up with assorted candies, black licorice, and popcorn while adding a fun colorful (and spooooky) label for a finishing touch. Of course limited with what I could keep out for 2 months, I had to stick with the simpler candies that wouldn’t start rotting after a week! But I would normally add some Halloween cupcakes to the table and some other baked goods to give my guests more variety. I also adore the white triangle plates and drinking goblets I chose from Classic’s inventory --- they are a perfect touch to this festive setting.

Table #3: Organic Sweetheart Table

Although this was the simplest of the three, I just love it. I love the subtler colors and the details that make the table design. It makes me want to sit down with my sweetheart and live my perfect wedding day all over again.
I am always inspired by Joanna Gaines’ tablescapes from HGTV’s Fixer Upper show so I chose to add greenery on top of the chargers to infuse nature into this design which also gave the beautiful Sophia design plates more visual richness. Instead of a floral centerpiece, I chose to add a rustic lantern, candle sticks, and varying size birch rounds with Spanish moss filled tea lights. I added a feather and billy ball to the napkin for more character and wrapped the gold flatware with natural twine. Some other favorite details from this table was my famous ‘Alison’ succulent book planter, the personalized written vows on vintage paper, and the Mr. and Mrs. Letter banners that added some character to the fruitwood chairs.

So I have 2 questions to ask… 1) which table is your favorite? If none of them are your style…that is completely ok! Hopefully they still give you some inspiration and idea nuggets as you are designing your own tablescapes this holiday season! And 2)…what tips do you have for designing the perfect fall tablescape?
Our tables will be up for two months in Classic Party Rental’s showroom so go check them out at the Phoenix office. Classic has some AWESOME inventory for any event – small to large. Lots of varieties and most important, they are up with the latest trends.
Thanks for reading along and last but not least….HAPPY FALL my treasures :) xoxox
